At Portage Bible Church we support numerous missions across the World. However, due to the nature of where some of our missionaries serve, we cannot always update that information online. If you want more information about our missionaries, who faithfully do the Lord’s work, please contact a member of our missions committee.
If you attend PBC and would like to participate in this unusual ministry of writing “snail mail” or e-mail, please let PBC’s secretary know. She will direct your desire to the Missions Committee. To participate in this great ministry of encouraging the missionaries PBC supports, you do not have to be a lady. You could be a man, a family unit, a group of friends, a Sunday School class, etc.
Daniel Nave – IFCA/Southeast Church Extension (SCE)
IFCA/SCE anticipates an exciting ministry this year. In January 2023, I [Dan] began to serve as a “more permanent” Pastor at Family Bible Church of Knoxville. This is a temporary assignment but with no exit date. We continue to ask God to provide a resident pastor, but until then, I’ll gladly serve these people I love and with whom I’ve bonded as a shepherd. They’ve agreed to allow me to use one Sunday each month to do SCE ministry in other churches. In addition, I’m spending Tuesdays in Knoxville doing ministry and participating in an evening Bible study. I’m driving about 1,000 miles each month for this ministry.
Henry and Linda Vosburgh, Executive Director of Midwest Church Extension – (MCE)
MCE helps and encourages pastors and churches with problems. We continue to be excited for what God is doing.
Andy and Kathleen Girwarnauth – Partners in Evangelism International (PIEI) – Guyana, SA.
Andy and Kathleen Girwanauth serve as missionaries in Guyana! They have a wonderful ministry of church planting and equipping local pastors to lead those new churches. It can be a difficult area of the world to serve because of the many worldly influences especially concerning religion, it is also a wonderful place to be a missionary because in many cases, the native people have never heard about Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Mani and Rachel Subramanian – BOAM (Bible Open Air Mission)
Mani has been newly promoted to International Director for BOAM. He is committed to the Great Commission not only in India, but in Africa, the Philippines and around the world. New mission fields are opening all the time. BOAM specializes in training nationals and enabling them to reach their own communities and countries with the Gospel message. This makes our ministry unique.
Bryan and Michelle, Titus, Lydia, Asher and Candace Vercler – Biblical Ministries – Ontario, Canada
Bryan volunteers each week at a furniture shop mainly for outreach purposes. We formed a softball team for children, created an ice rink in their yard, soccer field and park behind our house, we have father/son overnight camping, etc., to attract people so they can share the gospel with them. We are in the process of becoming citizens of Canada. We are grateful to God for the spiritual growth that has taken place in the lives of each of the people with whom we are working.
Wayne and Susie Vanderwier – OIC (Overseas Instruction in Counselling)
In 2005 Wayne and Susie created OIC. When using “OIC” you pronounce each letter individually and come up with: “Oh! I See!” Whenever you hear the phrase “OIC”, you may be challenged to pray for the Vanderwiers. Along with scores of teachers/preachers/missionaries they teach Pastors and lay people how to counsel Biblically around the world.
April 2, 2023 Wayne and Susie joined us for Sunday School and the morning service. They shared all that has been happening with OIC. It was a joyous day. It is always nice to have our missionaries drop in and share/preach.
